Biography 

My name is Rachael Higgins and I was born at home in Pontefract, West Yorkshire on 23^rd May 1979, which means that next birthday I will be 26 – argh!!  Does that mean I have to start behaving like a grown-up now?! 

I chose to study American Studies for my degree as this stemmed from my love of the country.  Having visited on a number of occasions and desperately wanting to visit again I was intrigued to learn about America’s history and it’s culture.  I know, I know, American Culture sounds like an oxymoron but it does have a cultural side – including the obvious Hollywood film industry. 

I have always enjoyed amateur dramatics and to carry on that enjoyment into University was great.  I guess that it allows the flamboyant side of my nature to come to the fore!  Having been born under the star sign of Gemini I tend to have a rather schizophrenic nature so sometimes I enjoy melodrama – hence the fact that I was quite an avid fan of the American Spelling soap Sunset Beach.  One thing is for sure; I didn’t watch “The Beach” for it’s award-winning actors!!  Hee Hee!!
